Brief History of the Department and Changes

The Pre-school Education Program was established in 1999 within the Faculty of Education of Selçuk University. Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education was incorporated into Konya University, which would later be named as Necmettin Erbakan University. The Department of Pre-school Education became a part of Necmettin Erbakan University under the Department of Basic Education. As of the spring semester of the 2021/2022 academic year, seven academicians work in the Department of Pre-school Education, including three professors, an associate professor, two assistant professors, and a research assistant.
The education period of the Department of Pre-school Education consists of eight semesters, a total of four years. Students who enroll in the department of pre-school education take compulsory vocational knowledge, general culture and subject matter knowledge courses in this process. In the department, pre-school pre-service teachers who adopt creative, innovative and effective teaching methods by using modern education and teaching techniques and have the necessary infrastructure to apply these methods are trained.
 


Career Ladders

Graduates of the Department of Pre-school Education can work as educators and administrators in public and private educational institutions such as kindergartens, day care centers, nursery schools and children's clubs. In addition, they can establish a private pre-school education institution affiliated to the Ministry of National Education.
Students who graduate from this department can apply to study in postgraduate programs. In addition, students can work as instructors in higher education institutions by taking/completing their master's and doctorate programs in Pre-school Education or other disciplines that accept students from this department.
