Career Opportunities

Students who graduate from the Special Education department can be appointed to special education schools that provide education and training services to intellectually disabled children under the Ministry of National Education, primary schools, secondary schools and high schools with special education classes, Guidance and Research Centers, and institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. Additionally, they can also work in private special education institutions or open their own institutions. In this department, undergraduate, graduate and doctorate programs are carried out in addition to 1 Professor, 4 Associated Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 1 lecturer and 6 research assistants are working full time. There are approximately 810 undergraduate students, 110 post-graduate students and 22 doctorate students in the department.
The vision of Necmettin Erbakan University Special Education Department is to contribute to Turkey by carrying out theoretical and practical studies in the field of Special Education, while developing valid solutions for the education and independent lives of individuals with special needs. It is to train teachers who aim to ensure that all individuals with special needs, both in Turkey and in the world, become independent, productive and active participants in society.
In order to succeed this vision, the Department of Special Education has taken the following subjects as its mission. To train teachers who continue scientific research and publication activities, understand the individual, contribute to the development of cognitive and social aspects as a whole, and are committed to professional ethics. To provide pre-service teachers with the knowledge and skills that will enable all individuals with special needs to acquire independent living skills. To support the development of children with special needs by providing support education services. In addition, it is to meet the needs of families with children with special needs and to support them. Therefore, it is to create a contemporary teaching culture and to train teachers who are professionally competent and respectful to social and professional values. In addition, our department aims to train instructors who carry out research and projects in the field and who are experts in teacher training with its graduate education opportunities. In this context, tens of national and international projects have been successfully completed. To train competent educators in the education of individuals with special needs and to create, develop and disseminate new knowledge, theory and research.
