About Us

History

Currently carrying out activities under Department of Basic Medical Sciences of Meram Medical Faculty, was established as a branch of Morphological Sciences in 1984 under Selçuk University by Associate Prof. Refik Soylu. According to the decree of Higher Education Institute of Turkey, dated to 17.09.1993, has been serving as an independent department with 5 faculty members, 2 teaching assistants and 3 research assistants.

Localization and Capacity

Units belonging to our department can be found in the morphology building of Meram Medical Faculty complex. Our department has model laboratory, dissection laboratory for medical students, microdissection laboratory, dry bone laboratory, cell culture laboratory and neuroanatomy laboratory. Lecture theatres of faculty are used for theoretical lectures. Practical lectures take place in the laboratories owned by our department.

Research Topics

Besides providing lectures to 1st and 2nd year medical students of Meram Faculty of Medicine, including theoretical and practical lessons under the topic of systematic anatomy, our department supports or take active roles for anatomy lectures required by Health Sciences Institute, other faculties or high schools for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Beside gross anatomy, researches related to developmental anatomy, radiological anatomy, neuro anatomy, vascular anatomy, morphometry and cell culture are being conducted.

Our department aims to contribute to the scientific society by participating the education process of young researchers and conducting research activities with willing department either they belong to Faculty of Medicine or not.
