SCHOOL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The School of Foreign Languages was established under the Rectorate on 14 July 2010 by the Council of Ministers’ Decision No. 6005. It is responsible for conducting compulsory and elective foreign language courses, as well as the foreign language preparatory programs (English, German, and Arabic), for all faculties, schools, and vocational schools affiliated with Necmettin Erbakan University, in accordance with article 5/i of the Higher Education Law No. 2547.

Our school is located on the Zafer Campus of Necmettin Erbakan University. It currently continues its educational activities with a total of 37 academic staff members, including 2 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, and 32 Lecturers.

The preparatory programs offer an intensive one-year language course designed to equip new students with the language skills required to use the language efficiently and effectively during their academic studies and professional lives after graduation. These programs are structured according to the levels recommended by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The main goal of the School is to help students at Necmettin Erbakan University effectively use academic resources and to use the foreign language they are learning for both written and spoken communication in social settings. Our school acknowledges the necessity of continuously evaluating and renewing itself, to better respond to students’ needs, and carries out its activities within this framework. A dedicated library for the School of Foreign Languages has been established, and efforts to set up a digital library to further enhance students’ speaking skills are ongoing.

Since 2019, our school has transitioned to a web-based examination system. Examinations are conducted digitally using over 200 computers in our laboratories. Moreover, our school offers language courses in English, German, French, Arabic, and Persian, thereby providing comprehensive language education to for the students and staff of the university.

The School of Foreign Languages aims to help students improve their target language skills for academic, professional, and social contexts, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence.
