Program Objective

The Department of Health Management contributes to the accumulation of knowledge on health services management by continuing education, training and research activities at undergraduate and graduate level. The department has adopted the principle of graduating qualified manpower who have developed self-confidence for the health sector, have high awareness, have adequate communication skills, know their country and the world and adopt contemporary thinking.

Students who successfully complete the Department of Health Management have the potential to be employed as middle and senior managers responsible for administrative, financial and technical affairs in a wide range of service areas in both public and private institutions and organizations in the health sector, especially hospitals.

Duration of Education

The undergraduate program of the Department of Health Management lasts 4 years (8 semesters). Students are equipped with advanced theoretical and practical training, starting with basic management skills and information about the health sector.

Vocational Education in Business

Thanks to compulsory vocational training in the enterprise, students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the sector for a semester. They are provided to gain experience in various health institutions and organizations, especially hospitals.

Language of Education

The language of instruction in the department is Turkish, but English resources are utilized in certain courses. In addition, English terminology training is provided for students to adapt to international projects and medical terminology training is provided for students to adapt to the health sector.

Undergraduate Graduation Exam

This exam, which is held in the last semester before graduation, tests students’ general knowledge before graduation. The aim is to make a comprehensive evaluation of students with the aim of preparing them for the sector.

Health Management Information Systems

Health information systems, purposes of use, manager-information system relationship, hospital information system modules and applications, and strategic decision-making methods in health informatics planning, implementation, and development.

Health Policy and Planning

The health policies of Türkiye and developed countries are studied comparatively and the factors that form and affect health policies, the definition, purpose and functions of the social security system, health policies and social security systems applied in Türkiye and in the world, their effects on the health sector are examined.

Health Economics

Economic principles of the health sector, qualitative and quantitative method techniques for service production, consumption, resource allocation and efficiency in the health sector, their importance both for the quality of life of the citizen and for the national economy, ensuring and increasing resource efficiency and process efficiency.

Health Communication and Communication Skills

The aim of this course is to prepare students for the communication problems they may encounter during health service delivery, to make them knowledgeable and equipped in this regard, to enable them to recognize themselves and to develop their ability to manage the communication process correctly. The aim of this course is to expand their consciousness and perspectives on life and the world by providing theoretical and practical knowledge on general communication and communication problems that are and may be experienced in the field of health, to enable them to be inquisitive, to use the knowledge, attitudes, and trainings they have gained throughout their professional lives.

Health Care Services Management

It is aimed to gain the ability to use knowledge and methods related to the organization and management of health services. For this purpose, the organization and management of the Turkish health system is examined in depth.

Quality Management and Accreditation in Health Services

It is aimed to have knowledge about the basic concepts related to quality and accreditation, which is an indispensable part of health services delivery, the importance of quality in health sectors and standards. In addition, by discussing the concept of accreditation in health sectors, its relationship with quality is examined and the quality of the health system in Türkiye is discussed.
