1-What is the passing grade for a course?

2- How many years is the ALES result valid?
ALES results are valid for 5 years.

3- How can I get my diploma?
Prepared diploma documents are published in the announcements section of the
https://erbakan.edu.tr/tr/birim/saglik-bilimleri-enstitusu web page. You can get the diplomas published here from the Institute Student Affairs.
 
4- How can I access ready-made forms?
You can access it from the Forms under the Student tab on the Institute's Web Page.

5- What are the necessary documents for final registration?
In the announcements section of the main page of our Institute, the documents required for final registration for Master's degree, Doctorate, Master's Degree Non-Thesis are explained during the application periods.
 
6- Do graduate students have to renew their registration every semester?
Graduate students must renew their registration every semester. The student who does not renew the registration suffers a loss of semester.
   
7- When are the application dates and application conditions for graduate programs announced?
Application dates for graduate programs (non-thesis master's, master's, doctorate) are announced on our website in August-September/December-January.
 
8- How are exams and evaluations conducted in postgraduate programs?
In graduate programs, final and make-up exams are held for each course during the semester.

 9- What is the attendance requirement in graduate programs?

In order for students to be eligible to take the exams, they must attend 70% of the theoretical courses and 80% of the practical and laboratory studies. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement will be considered to have failed that course.

10- How can I get a student certificate?
You can get it from our institute's student affairs office or via e-Government during working hours by presenting your student ID.

 11- How can I access the Thesis Writing Guide?

You can access it from the Guide under the Student tab on the Institute's Web Page.

12- Is it necessary for foreign students to take the ALES exam?
There is no ALES requirement for foreign students.

13- If I want to cancel my registration after suspending my Master's degree, can I get a refund for a certain percentage of the tuition and registration fees?
No, it cannot be taken.
 
14- How long is the completion time of the Master's program with thesis?
The duration of completing the master's program cannot be less than four semesters and more than six semesters.

How long is the duration of the doctoral program?

The doctoral program, excluding the period spent in scientific preparation, is eight semesters for those accepted with a thesis master's degree, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program they are registered for are given, regardless of whether they register for each semester or not, and the maximum completion period is twelve semesters; for those accepted with a bachelor's degree, it is ten semesters, and the maximum completion period is fourteen semesters.

When does the Thesis Monitoring Committee meet and how many reports should be submitted?

For students whose thesis proposals are accepted, the thesis monitoring committee meets at least twice a year, once between January and June and once between July and December. The student submits a written report to the committee members at least one month before the meeting date. This report includes a summary of the work done so far and a work plan for the next term. The student's thesis is determined as successful or unsuccessful by the committee. Students who fail twice in a row or three times at a time are dismissed from the Institute. 17- When are horizontal transfer applications made?

It is carried out within the framework of Article 5/1 of Necmettin Erbakan University Graduate Education-Teaching Process Application Principles.

18- Is there any time limit for the Course Period, for giving seminars and thesis proposals after the course period, or for thesis defense and project defense exams?
According to the regulation, the duration of graduate education is limited. The normal duration of the course and seminar period is 2 semesters, the maximum duration is 4 semesters. The duration of the thesis period is two semesters.

Do I have to graduate from the same department to enter a Master's program?
The application conditions for the programs are determined by the relevant Department Presidencies. Some units also accept graduates from other fields. This situation is stated during the announcement of the quotas.

How long is the validity period of YDS Foreign Language score?
The validity period of the score obtained from the YDS Foreign Language Exam is 5 years.

Can someone else make the final registration on my behalf?
Registrations are made by each student personally or by the person to whom he/she has given a power of attorney through a notary.

 

22- Can I choose a second advisor?
In cases where the nature of the thesis requires more than one advisor, a petition is submitted to the department head with the approval of the advisor. A second thesis advisor may be appointed with the recommendation of the ABD head and the approval of the board of directors.

I want to change my advisor? What should I do?

Students who want to change their advisors must fill out the “Advisor Change Form” and submit it to the relevant department head after getting it approved. Changes can be made with the proposal of the department head and the approval of the Institute's Board of Directors.

Can it be taken from courses offered at other higher education institutions?
Applications are made by filling out the Course Enrollment Form on our Institute page. The Institute Board of Directors makes a decision.

How can I have the courses I have taken from a previous graduate program count towards my credit load?
The courses taken by the student while enrolled in a graduate program at another university or as a special student will be counted towards the course load in the event that the student enrolls in a graduate program at the Institute, and these courses are determined by the Institute Board of Directors upon the recommendation of the department head. (Graduate Exemption and Adaptation Regulation Article 5/1)

 26- Do I have to retake the course I failed?
Students who fail a course must first take the course they failed in the following semester. If the course in question is not included in the program for the relevant semester, the student may choose another course, regardless of the semester in which the course is located, upon the recommendation of the advisor and department head and the decision of the Institute Board of Directors.

 27- Can I object to the note I have received? Until when and how should I apply?
Students may object to the final grade announced at the end of the semester for the course they have taken by submitting a petition to the department head within one week from the announcement date. The final grade of the student who has objected is finalized after being discussed by the Institute Board of Directors.

When should I submit my seminar assignment?
Graduate students must submit their seminar assignments within the academic calendar and during the class period.

Does the specialization course count as course credit?
Course load is not included in the credit.

When can I move on to the Thesis phase in a master's program?

Students who successfully complete the course credit load and successfully submit their seminar proceed to the thesis phase.

 31- Can I make changes to my thesis topic?
Changes can be made during the thesis period with the proposal of the Advisor and the decision of the Institute's Board of Directors.

What do I need to do to project my thesis?
From the organizations that provide project support (BAP and TUBITAK, etc.) support can be obtained.

I have switched to thesis, do I need to register?
Students must register every semester until they graduate.

34- Who is the member of the master's thesis jury?
The master's thesis jury is appointed with the recommendation of the relevant department academic board and the approval of the Institute Board of Directors. The jury consists of three main and two substitute faculty members, one of whom is the student's thesis advisor, at least one of whom is from outside the University, and five main and two substitute faculty members, if there is a second thesis advisor. If the jury consists of three people, the second thesis advisor cannot be a jury member.

 35- What do the “Accept”, “Reject” and “Correction” decisions made by the absolute majority of the jury mean?
Acceptance: Thesis is accepted, Rejection: Thesis is not accepted, Correction: It refers to the 3-month for Master's, 6-month for Doctorate period given to make the necessary changes on the thesis.

36- What should a student do if a “Correction” decision is made regarding his/her thesis?
The thesis is defended again before the same jury by making the corrections specified by the thesis defense jury within 3 months for master's degree, 6 months for doctorate at the latest.

Can someone else receive my diploma on my behalf?

The diploma holder or the person who has been given a power of attorney from the notary can receive it.

 38- When can I get my student ID card?
It is prepared within 2 months from the final registration date. The ID holder receives it from our Institute Student Affairs.

How many years can I freeze my education?
It can be frozen for a maximum of four semesters.

In what cases and how can registration be frozen?

It is carried out within the framework of Necmettin Erbakan University Graduate Education-Teaching Process Application Principles Article 6/1/c.

You can benefit by showing the student ID card.

What do I need to do to delete the registration?
The student must personally apply to our Institute with a petition for deletion of registration. The registration is deleted by the decision of the Institute's Board of Directors.

In what cases are scientific preparation courses taken?
If a student is pursuing a postgraduate education in a department other than the one in which he/she is doing his/her undergraduate education, a maximum of two consecutive semesters of the Scientific Preparation Program can be applied to fill the gaps. The passing grade for the scientific preparation course is 70 for Master's and 75 for doctoral programs.

Unsuccessful students are dismissed from the Institute.

Can I take courses as a special student at another Higher Education Institution?
The courses taken as a special student at another university and which will be counted towards the course load when a student enrolls in a graduate program at our Institute are determined by the Institute Board of Directors upon the recommendation of the department head.

How can I get Orcid number??
A study has been initiated to provide open access research services for postgraduate theses prepared at universities, books, articles, projects, etc. In this study, the need to use the Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) number, which can be obtained free of charge, has emerged in order to ensure standardization of data, and postgraduate students with theses and all academics are required to obtain an ORCID number.

In this context, the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education, in its meeting dated 13.05.2020 (Session No: 30), decided that it will be mandatory for faculty members and students registered in thesis-based postgraduate education programs to use the Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) number in the follow-up of postgraduate theses and articles, congress and symposium proceedings, books and all kinds of scientific publications.

Non-academic graduate students will get their numbers from the Thesis Data Entry Form, and academics will get their numbers from YÖKSİS (Personnel Transactions-Create CV-Personal Information-YÖK Academic).

How can I get the Thesis Data Entry Form?
Log in to https://tez.yok.gov.tr/UlusalTezMerkezi/ web page; Log in to the system with your e-government password from the member login tab, fill in the information in the Meta Data Entry Form, click the save button, print out the thesis data entry form and sign it.

What should I do after the thesis defense?

After the defense, the procedures are carried out in accordance with the decision of the jury. As a result of the thesis defense exam, the jury gives one of the following decisions: “Accept”, “Reject” or “Correction”. As a result of the thesis defense exam;

• A student who is ACCEPTED; must submit the thesis defense exam report, thesis approval page (with wet signature) and minor corrections in the thesis to the institute with the department cover letter within 3 business days. If the corrections in the thesis are excessive, the spiral thesis must be submitted within 1 month at the latest. If the 1-month period is not sufficient, an additional 1 month is granted for thesis submission with a petition. If the thesis is still not submitted within this period, the student's relationship is terminated considering the maximum period.

• A student who is CORRECTED; must submit the thesis defense exam report and the department cover letter to the institute within 3 business days. As a result of the correction decision, the master's student defends his/her thesis before the same jury within 3 months, and the doctoral student defends his/her thesis within 6 months. For the second defense exam, the same procedures are repeated as for the first defense exam. If the student fails the thesis defense a second time, the student will be dismissed from the Institute.

• A student who receives a REJECTION must submit the thesis defense exam report and the department cover letter to the Institute within 3 business days. A student who receives a REJECTION will be dismissed from the Institute.

52-What should I do for graduation procedures?

The student who has received the graduation decision from the institute board of directors will receive the spiral thesis submitted to the board of directors from the student affairs office, complete any corrections requested by the board, and begin graduation procedures. Detailed information regarding postgraduate graduation procedures is available in the GRADUATION TERM explanations on the forms section of the institute page. In line with the explanations here, the GRADUATION FORM and the documents in its attachments must be delivered to the institute completely.

53- How to apply as a foreign student?

Graduate programs are held twice a year, in the fall and spring semesters. Application announcements are announced on the Institute's website.
