Biotechnology encompasses scientific research and product development processes in various fields such as medicine, pharmacy, biology, chemistry, food, agriculture, environment, and renewable energy production.

Graduates of the Department of Biotechnology can pursue careers in a wide range of sectors. These include:

  • Industrial sectors such as food, chemical, energy, and packaging industries, particularly those involving biotechnological production processes or conducting R&D activities focused on biotechnological product development,

  • Environmental sectors engaged in biotechnological solutions for environmental issues—especially wastewater treatment—or carrying out related R&D,

  • Pharmaceutical and medical sectors, including companies involved in the production and R&D of drugs, diagnostic kits, medical devices, and materials,

  • Public research institutions, especially the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK),

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of biotechnology, graduates are also eligible to pursue graduate studies and academic careers not only in biotechnology departments but also in the following departments of national and international universities:

  • Biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology and genetics departments of science faculties,

  • Faculties of medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, and agriculture,

  • Chemical engineering, food engineering, environmental engineering, biomedical engineering, and bioengineering departments of engineering faculties.
