The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Necmettin Erbakan University aims to equip students with the competence to understand the molecular functioning of living organisms, analyze genetic mechanisms, and effectively apply this knowledge in scientific research. Our department strives to train individuals with strong analytical thinking skills who can contribute to both fundamental and applied research in diverse fields such as health, agriculture, environment, and biotechnology.
Molecular biology and genetics is a multidisciplinary scientific field that not only focuses on understanding intracellular processes but also encompasses the development of strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, genetic engineering applications, and biological data analysis. In this context, our goal is to ensure that students acquire both a solid theoretical foundation and advanced laboratory skills in areas such as genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular diagnostic techniques, and bioinformatics.
Additionally, raising researchers who are committed to ethical principles, closely follow scientific developments, and are equipped to compete at both national and international levels is among the primary objectives of our department.
The undergraduate program in Molecular Biology and Genetics lasts 4 years (8 semesters). Students begin with fundamental biology and chemistry knowledge and are equipped with advanced theoretical and practical courses.
Through mandatory summer internships, students gain the opportunity to acquire practical experience in the field of biotechnology. They obtain work experience in sectors such as research laboratories, biotechnology companies, the pharmaceutical industry, and the agricultural industry.
The language of instruction in the department is Turkish, although English resources are used in certain courses. Additionally, students receive training in English terminology to help them adapt to international projects.

Thanks to the hands-on projects conducted each semester, students enhance their research and analytical skills through both individual and team-based work. The graduation project enables students to carry out a comprehensive study using scientific methods, preparing them for both the industry and academic life.
