Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics have a wide range of career opportunities in both public and private sectors. They can work in laboratories where molecular biology and genetics techniques are applied for various purposes, including microbiological and molecular analyses of food, pharmaceutical production and quality control, drug design and development, plant molecular genetics, recombinant enzyme production, high value-added product synthesis through biotechnological processes, biohydrogen production, stem cell biology, molecular cell biology, chromatographic and trace element analyses, insect molecular biology and genetics, transcriptomics, cancer molecular biology, and nanoparticle synthesis for cancer diagnosis and therapy, as well as molecular approaches in plant stress physiology and antioxidant defense systems in plants.
Graduates may pursue careers in research laboratories, quality control units, research institutes, and diagnostic and treatment centers for genetic diseases, including hospitals and faculties of medicine. They are also employed in R&D, production, sales, and marketing departments of companies operating in the fields of pharmacy, energy, food, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and molecular biotechnology. In addition, graduates may choose to continue their academic careers by pursuing postgraduate studies and becoming researchers or faculty members.
