The project titled “Development of a Web-Based Monitoring System for Tracking Individualized Training Load in Weightlifting”, prepared under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kenan Erdağı, a faculty member of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education at our University, has been awarded support within the scope of the TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1002-A Rapid Support Module.
The project aims to digitalize training processes in weightlifting and establish a data-driven structure. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, the study involves Lect. Halil İbrahim Özer from the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies, Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education at our University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bülent Işık from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University, as researchers.
Providing an evaluation of the project, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kenan Erdağı stated that the primary objective of the study is to ensure more accurate and reliable monitoring of weightlifting athletes’ training loads by taking individual differences into account. He noted: “With this project, we aim to monitor athletes’ training load levels digitally through a web-based system. Thanks to the system to be developed, coaches will be able to carry out planning and decision-making processes based on scientific data rather than manual recording methods. This will enable both healthier monitoring of performance development and a reduction in potential injury risks.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdağı also emphasized that the system to be developed will significantly reduce problems arising from manual monitoring processes, such as data loss, difficulties in analysis, and time loss, and stated that the project will contribute to digital transformation in the field of sports sciences.
