On October 17, 2025, the first-year students of the Department of History Education, accompanied by their academic advisors, carried out a field trip as part of their course to the Çatalhöyük Archaeological Site Museum and several museums located in the center of Konya. The students first visited the Çatalhöyük Museum in the Çumra district in the morning, where they examined examples of artifacts unearthed during the excavations. They received information from Archaeologist Dr. Tuğçe Ertabak about life, social order, daily life, the tools and instruments used by the inhabitants, and the excavation works that have been ongoing at Çatalhöyük, one of the world’s most significant prehistoric settlements, since 1961. The students also visited the exhibition “Traces of Memory: The Neolithic City of Çatalhöyük”, hosted by the Çatalhöyük Promotion and Visitor Center within the scope of the Turkey Culture Route Festival. In the afternoon part of the trip, the students visited the Konya Provincial Museum of the History of Education and the Karatay Madrasa Museum. As prospective teachers, they had the opportunity to observe Konya’s educational history, from the last quarter of the 19th century to the recent past, through the artifacts and educational materials exhibited in the Konya Provincial Museum of the History of Education. At the Karatay Madrasa (Konya Museum of Tile Works), the students examined Konya’s tile and stone artworks, especially those dating from the Seljuk period. Since the Dârü’l-Mülk Exhibition Palace and the İnce Minare Museum of Stone and Wooden Artworks are currently under restoration, visits to these sites were postponed to another occasion.
